Bounce does not sell Driver personal information.

Bounce does not use or disclose precise Driver location information, identity documents, driver licence information, police-check information, biometric information, facial verification information, banking information or safety incident information for third-party advertising.

Bounce may use limited technical, device, usage or analytics information to understand how the Bounce Driver Platform is used, measure performance, diagnose technical issues, maintain security and improve our services.

Where analytics or technology providers receive information such as device identifiers, IP addresses, app activity, crash information or usage data, Bounce will disclose that collection and sharing in this Privacy Policy and in any applicable app-store privacy or data-safety declaration.

Bounce will not share Driver personal information with an advertising provider for targeted or personalised advertising unless:

  1. we provide you with clear notice of the proposed use or disclosure;
  2. we obtain your consent where required by law;
  3. you are provided with any legally required choice or opt-out mechanism; and
  4. the use or disclosure is accurately reflected in our privacy disclosures.

Service-related communications, Driver education, platform updates and promotions sent directly by Bounce are not considered a sale of personal information.

7. Identity Verification

Bounce may require you to complete identity verification before, during or after onboarding.

Verification may include:

  1. government identification;
  2. selfie verification;
  3. document authentication;
  4. facial comparison;
  5. manual review by Bounce personnel.

Failure to complete required verification may prevent access to the Driver Platform.

7.1  Sensitive Information and Biometric Information

Bounce may collect and handle certain information that is classified as sensitive information under applicable privacy laws.

Sensitive information we may collect includes:

  1. criminal record information, including National Police Check results, status information, reference numbers and verification outcomes;
  2. facial images collected through profile photographs, identity documents and selfie verification;
  3. facial comparison results, facial similarity scores and liveness-check results;
  4. biometric information or biometric templates used for automated identity verification, where generated by an identity verification provider;
  5. health or medical information voluntarily provided in connection with a safety incident, emergency, accessibility request, insurance matter or complaint;
  6. information concerning an alleged offence, assault, sexual misconduct or other serious safety incident;
  7. information relating to a Driver's physical or mental fitness to drive, where provided or required by law; and
  8. other sensitive information that you voluntarily provide to Bounce or that Bounce is authorised or required to collect.

7.2  Why We Collect Sensitive Information

Bounce collects sensitive information only where it is reasonably necessary for one or more of the following purposes:

  1. verifying your identity;
  2. confirming that the person using the Bounce Driver Account is the approved Driver;
  3. assessing your eligibility to become or remain a Bounce Driver;

  5. detecting identity fraud, account sharing and document misuse;
  6. protecting Drivers, Riders and the public;
  7. investigating safety incidents, complaints and alleged misconduct;

  10. responding to emergencies, law-enforcement requests or lawful regulatory directions.

Bounce will not collect sensitive information merely because it may be useful or convenient.

7.3  Consent

Where required by law, Bounce will obtain your express consent before collecting sensitive information.

Consent may be obtained through:

  1. a separate consent screen within the Bounce Driver App;
  2. an affirmative checkbox or confirmation;
  3. a written or electronic consent form;
  4. a disclosure presented before an identity, police or biometric verification process begins; or
  5. another method that clearly explains the information being collected and the purpose of collection.

Creating a Bounce Driver Account or generally using the Bounce Driver App does not, by itself, constitute express consent to every collection or use of sensitive information.

You may decline to provide sensitive information where collection is based on consent. However, if the information is necessary to verify your identity, assess your eligibility, comply with law or provide a core Driver Platform feature, Bounce may be unable to approve or maintain your Driver Account.

7.4  Facial Verification and Biometric Processing

Bounce may use facial verification technology to compare a selfie or live image with the photograph displayed on your driver licence, identity document or approved Driver profile.

This process may involve:

  1. capturing a selfie or live facial image;
  2. confirming that a real person is present through a liveness check;
  3. identifying facial features;
  4. generating a facial similarity or comparison score;
  5. comparing two facial images; and
  6. producing a verification result or fraud indicator.

Depending on the technology used by the relevant identity verification provider, the process may generate a mathematical representation or biometric template derived from your facial image.

Bounce will disclose, through the Bounce Driver App or the relevant verification process, whether a biometric template is generated and whether it is stored by Bounce or the identity verification provider.

Confirm and insert one of the following statements before publication:

Option A — no biometric template retained: Neither Bounce nor its identity verification provider retains a biometric template after the identity verification process is completed, except where temporarily required to complete the verification, investigate fraud or comply with law.

Option B — provider retains biometric template: Bounce's identity verification provider may retain a biometric template or facial verification data for the period described in the provider's privacy notice and as permitted by law. Bounce may receive the verification result, similarity score, fraud indicators and verification status but does not ordinarily receive the underlying biometric template.

Option C — Bounce retains biometric information: Bounce may retain biometric information or a biometric template for the limited purposes described in this section. The information will be stored securely and retained only for the period reasonably necessary for identity verification, fraud prevention, account security or legal compliance.

7.5  Use of Biometric Information

Biometric information, facial comparison results and verification images will only be used for purposes including:

  1. verifying your identity;
  2. confirming that you are the authorised Driver Account holder;
  3. preventing account sharing;
  4. detecting identity or document fraud;
  5. protecting account and platform security;
  6. investigating suspected misuse; and
  7. complying with legal or regulatory obligations.

Bounce will not use biometric information for:

  1. advertising;
  2. marketing profiling;
  3. determining Driver Earnings;
  4. calculating fares;
  5. evaluating Rider ratings;
  6. unrelated behavioural analysis; or
  7. any materially different purpose without providing further notice and obtaining consent where required.

7.6  Storage and Retention

Sensitive information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or as required or authorised by law.

Retention periods may depend on:

  1. the type and sensitivity of the information;
  2. whether your application is approved, rejected, withdrawn or incomplete;
  3. whether the information forms part of a safety, fraud, legal or regulatory investigation;
  4. legal recordkeeping obligations;
  5. applicable limitation periods;
  6. whether an account-security risk remains; and
  7. whether the information can be securely deleted or de-identified.

Identity verification images, facial comparison results and biometric information will be deleted or de-identified when they are no longer reasonably required, unless Bounce or the relevant provider is required or authorised by law to retain them.

The applicable biometric retention period or criteria will be disclosed during the verification process or in Bounce's Data Retention Policy.

7.7  Sharing Sensitive Information

Bounce may disclose sensitive information only where reasonably necessary and permitted by law, including to:

  1. identity and document verification providers;
  2. National Police Check and background-screening providers;
  3. payment and fraud-prevention providers;
  4. Safe Transport Victoria and other transport regulators;
  5. police, courts and law-enforcement agencies;
  6. emergency services;
  7. insurers and insurance claims administrators;
  8. professional legal, compliance and auditing advisers;
  9. cloud-hosting and secure data-storage providers; and
  10. other recipients authorised by you or required by law.

Service providers handling sensitive information on behalf of Bounce are required to use it only for authorised purposes and to apply appropriate security protections, subject to their own legal obligations.

Bounce will not sell sensitive information.

7.8  Automated Results and Manual Review

Automated systems may assist Bounce and its verification providers to assess identity documents, selfies, liveness checks, facial similarity and fraud indicators.

An automated verification result may lead to:

  1. a request for further information;
  2. a request to repeat the verification process;
  3. temporary restriction of the Driver Account;
  4. referral for manual review; or
  5. rejection or suspension where a material identity or fraud concern remains.

Where an automated result materially affects your application or access to the Bounce Driver Platform, you may request manual review by contacting Bounce Support using the details in the Contact Us section.

As part of a manual review, Bounce may:

  1. review the submitted images and documents;
  2. request an additional selfie or identity document;
  3. ask you to complete another verification process;
  4. consider information provided by the verification provider; and
  5. allow you to explain or correct an apparent error.

Manual review does not guarantee that an automated result will be overturned, but Bounce will consider the available information and make a final decision in accordance with applicable law and Bounce's safety and eligibility requirements.

8. Location Information

The Bounce Driver App requires access to location information to provide core features of the Bounce Driver Platform.

Before collecting location information, Bounce will request the relevant location permission through your device. Where required by applicable law or platform policy, Bounce will also provide a separate, prominent in-app disclosure and obtain your affirmative consent before the collection begins.

Depending on the permissions you grant and how you use the Bounce Driver App, Bounce may collect precise or approximate location information while you are:

  1. logged into the Bounce Driver App;
  2. online and available to receive Trip Requests;
  3. travelling to a Rider’s pickup location;
  4. waiting at a pickup location;
  5. completing a Trip;
  6. using navigation, emergency or safety features;
  7. sharing an active Trip with a trusted contact; or
  8. using another feature that requires location information.

Where background location access is enabled, location information may continue to be collected while you are online or completing an active Trip, including when the Bounce Driver App is minimised, running in the background or not visible on your screen.

Before requesting background location permission, Bounce will provide a prominent in-app disclosure explaining:

  1. that location information may be collected while the Bounce Driver App is running in the background or is not visible on your screen;
  2. the specific Bounce Driver Platform features that require background location access;
  3. how the location information will be used; and
  4. whether the information may be shared with Riders, trusted contacts, service providers, emergency services, regulators or other authorised recipients.

Background location information may be required to:

  1. send you relevant Trip Requests while you are online;
  2. determine your proximity to a pickup location;
  3. provide navigation and route guidance;
  4. show your estimated arrival time and Vehicle location to the Rider;
  5. monitor the progress and status of an active Trip;
  6. calculate Trip distance, duration, fares, tolls and waiting time;
  7. operate SOS, emergency assistance, Follow My Ride and other safety features;
  8. investigate safety incidents, complaints and payment disputes;
  9. detect GPS manipulation, account misuse, fraud and other prohibited conduct; and
  10. comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

Bounce does not collect background location information merely because you have installed the Bounce Driver App. Background location collection will only occur where the relevant permission has been granted and the collection is required for a disclosed Driver Platform feature.

You may manage or withdraw location permissions through your device settings. Withdrawing or limiting location permission does not affect the lawfulness of information collected before the permission was withdrawn. However, because location information is necessary for core Driver Platform functionality, limiting or disabling location access may prevent you from:

  1. going online;
  2. receiving or accepting Trip Requests;
  3. navigating to Riders;
  4. starting or completing Trips;
  5. using location-dependent safety features; or
  6. accessing other parts of the Bounce Driver Platform.

Where you withdraw consent for a location use that relies on consent, Bounce will stop collecting or using location information for that purpose unless the collection, use or retention is otherwise authorised or required by law.

Location information collected through the Bounce Driver App may be retained and handled in accordance with the Data Retention section of this Privacy Policy.

9. Device Permissions

To provide the Bounce Driver Platform and its features, the Bounce Driver App may request permission to access certain functions or features of your device.

Depending on the services you use, these permissions may include:

  4. microphone access where required;

These photographs and documents may be reviewed by authorised Bounce personnel, identity verification providers, document verification providers and regulators where required by law.

We use these documents to verify your eligibility, detect fraud, maintain platform integrity and comply with applicable legal obligations.

11. Safety Features

Bounce offers a range of safety features designed to protect drivers, riders and the community.

These features may include:

  1. SOS functionality;

  3. trip monitoring;
  4. OTP verification;

Information generated through safety features may be used to assist emergency services, investigate incidents, resolve disputes, improve platform safety and comply with legal obligations.

12. Dashcams

Drivers may choose to install and operate dashcams within their vehicles.

Where a driver registers a dashcam through the Bounce Driver Platform, Bounce may record that a dashcam is present so that riders can be notified before entering the vehicle.

Bounce does not ordinarily receive or store dashcam footage unless:

  1. voluntarily submitted by the driver;
  2. required as part of an investigation;
  3. requested following an incident;
  4. required by law.

Drivers remain solely responsible for ensuring their use of dashcams complies with all applicable privacy, surveillance and recording laws.

  9. criminal activity;
  10. other misuse of the Bounce Driver Platform.

We may combine information collected through the Driver Platform with information received from verification providers, payment processors and government authorities where permitted by law.

14. Automated Decision Making

Bounce may use automated systems to assist with:

  1. identity verification;
  2. document validation;
  3. fraud detection;
  4. duplicate account detection;
  5. payment risk analysis;
  6. trip allocation;
  7. driver matching;
  8. platform security.

Automated systems are used to assist decision-making but may also be supplemented by manual review where appropriate.

The retention period for personal information depends on the type of information, the reason it was collected, whether your Driver Account remains active and any applicable legal, regulatory, taxation, safety, insurance, dispute-resolution or fraud-prevention requirements.

  5. relevant limitation periods for legal claims;
  6. whether a complaint, investigation, payout, dispute or legal matter remains unresolved;
  7. the risk of fraud, account misuse or repeated safety misconduct;
  8. the risk of harm arising from continued retention;
  9. whether the information can be securely deleted or de-identified; and
  10. whether retention remains proportionate to the purpose for which the information is held.

24.1 Unsuccessful, Withdrawn or Incomplete Applications

Information relating to an unsuccessful, withdrawn or incomplete Driver application may be retained for a limited period where reasonably necessary to:

  1. manage future applications or reapplications;
  2. respond to questions, complaints or disputes;
  3. detect duplicate, fraudulent or misleading applications;
  4. prevent identity misuse or document fraud;
  5. comply with legal or regulatory requirements; and
  6. establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Information that is no longer required for one of these purposes will be deleted or de-identified where reasonably practicable.

24.2 Approved and Former Driver Accounts

Information associated with an approved Driver Account may be retained while the account remains active and for a reasonable period after the account is closed, deactivated or deleted.

Former Driver Account information may be retained where necessary to:

  1. maintain Trip, payment, tax and regulatory records;
  2. respond to complaints, disputes or legal claims;
  3. manage safety, fraud or account-integrity concerns;
  4. prevent improper re-registration following serious misconduct or fraud;
  5. complete outstanding payouts, adjustments, refunds or chargebacks; and
  6. comply with transport, taxation, corporate and other legal obligations.

24.3 Identification and Driver Documents

Driver licences, identity documents, CPV Driver Accreditation records, Vehicle documents, insurance information and related verification records may be retained while your Driver Account remains active and for any further period reasonably necessary to:

  1. confirm Driver and Vehicle eligibility;
  2. demonstrate compliance with legal or regulatory requirements;
  3. respond to audits, investigations or disputes;
  4. prevent identity fraud or document misuse; and
  5. establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Where Bounce does not need to retain a complete copy of a document, Bounce may retain only the verification outcome, document type, expiry date, reference number or other limited compliance record.

24.5 Facial Verification and Biometric Information

Selfie verification images, facial comparison results, liveness-check outcomes, similarity scores and biometric information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for:

  1. completing identity verification;
  2. confirming that the authorised Driver is using the account;
  3. investigating suspected identity fraud or account sharing;
  4. resolving a disputed verification result;
  5. maintaining platform security; or
  6. complying with legal or regulatory requirements.

The specific retention period may depend on whether biometric information is stored by Bounce or by an identity verification provider.

Where biometric information is no longer reasonably necessary, Bounce will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, unless retention is required or authorised by law.

24.6 Police Check and Background-Screening Information

National Police Check and background-screening information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  1. assess and monitor Driver eligibility;
  2. meet safety and regulatory obligations;
  3. respond to audits, complaints or investigations;
  4. verify that a required check was completed; and
  5. comply with applicable legal requirements.

Where appropriate, Bounce may retain only the check status, date, reference number, outcome or expiry information rather than the complete underlying report.

24.7 Trip and Location Information

Trip and location information may be retained for a period reasonably necessary to:

  1. maintain booking and Trip records;
  2. calculate and verify fares, tolls, Driver Earnings and Access Fees;
  3. respond to Rider or Driver complaints;
  4. investigate safety incidents, route disputes, cancellations or alleged misconduct;
  5. detect fraud, collusion or GPS manipulation;
  6. manage insurance matters;
  7. comply with commercial passenger vehicle, taxation and regulatory requirements; and
  8. establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Location information may be retained in a more detailed form for a shorter period and later aggregated or de-identified where Bounce no longer requires precise identifiable location information.

24.8 Financial, Payout and Tax Records

Payment, payout, fare, refund, adjustment, tax, GST, banking and transaction records may be retained for the period required under applicable taxation, corporate, accounting, financial reporting and anti-fraud requirements.

These records may also be retained while a payout, refund, chargeback, adjustment, audit, dispute or legal matter remains unresolved.

24.9 Safety Incidents, Complaints and Investigations

Safety reports, complaints, insurance matters, notifiable incidents, allegations of misconduct and investigation records may be retained until the matter is resolved and for any further period reasonably necessary to:

  1. protect Drivers, Riders and the public;
  2. respond to regulators, police, courts or insurers;
  3. identify repeated patterns of safety-related conduct;
  4. manage legal or insurance claims;
  5. comply with regulatory reporting obligations; and
  6. establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Serious safety and misconduct records may be retained for longer periods where necessary to prevent repeated harm or improper re-registration.

24.10 Recorded Calls and Support Communications

Recorded calls, emails, live-chat records, support tickets and other communications may be retained for a period reasonably necessary to:

  1. respond to your enquiry or complaint;
  2. monitor and improve customer support;
  3. train authorised support personnel;
  4. investigate safety, fraud or payment matters;
  5. resolve disputes; and
  6. comply with legal or regulatory obligations.

Recorded calls will not be retained for longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which the recording was made, unless a longer period is required because of an unresolved complaint, investigation or legal matter.

24.11 Dashcam Footage Submitted to Bounce

Bounce does not ordinarily collect or retain Driver dashcam footage.

Where dashcam footage is voluntarily submitted or requested in connection with an incident, complaint, insurance matter or investigation, it may be retained until the matter is resolved and for any further period reasonably necessary to:

  1. investigate the relevant incident;
  2. respond to a Rider, Driver, insurer or regulator;
  3. provide information to police or emergency services;
  4. manage legal proceedings or insurance claims; and
  5. establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Dashcam footage will not be used for unrelated advertising or marketing purposes.

24.12 Fraud-Prevention and Platform-Integrity Records

Bounce may retain fraud-prevention, account-security and platform-integrity records for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  1. detect and prevent identity fraud, document fraud and account sharing;
  2. identify duplicate or unauthorised accounts;
  3. prevent payment fraud, GPS manipulation and platform misuse;
  4. protect the Bounce Driver Platform and its users; and
  5. prevent a person from improperly avoiding a previous suspension or deactivation.

Fraud-prevention records may be retained after account closure where the continuing retention is proportionate to the security or fraud risk.

24.13 Backups

Personal information deleted from active systems may remain temporarily in secure backups until those backups are overwritten, deleted or expire in accordance with Bounce's backup retention schedule.

Information retained only in a backup will not ordinarily be accessed or used for operational purposes unless the backup is restored for disaster recovery, security, legal or technical reasons.

Where a backup is restored, Bounce will take reasonable steps to ensure that information previously scheduled for deletion is deleted again or otherwise appropriately handled.

24.14 Deletion and De-identification

Where personal information is no longer required for a lawful purpose, Bounce will take reasonable steps to securely delete, destroy or de-identify it.

Bounce may retain de-identified or aggregated information for analytics, safety analysis, research, service improvement and statistical reporting where the information can no longer reasonably identify you.

Further information about the deletion of information following an account deletion request is provided in Section 26 of this Privacy Policy.

25. Access and Correction

You may request access to personal information we hold about you or request correction of inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information.

Bounce may require reasonable verification of your identity before processing such requests.

Access may be refused where permitted by applicable law.

26. Account Closure and Deletion

26.1 Requesting Account Deletion

You may request permanent deletion of your Bounce Driver account and the personal information associated with that account at any time, subject to the retention requirements described below.

You may initiate an account deletion request:

  1. within the Bounce Driver App by navigating to Account > Manage Account > Delete Account.

If you cannot access either deletion method, you may contact Bounce Support at [insert support or privacy email address] to request assistance.

The website deletion process will allow you to initiate an account deletion request without needing to download, reinstall or sign in to the Bounce Driver App.

Bounce may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and confirm that you are authorised to delete the account before processing the request. This may include asking you to verify your email address, mobile number, identity information or other account details.

26.2 Effect of an Account Deletion Request

An account deletion request is a request to permanently close your Bounce Driver account and delete the personal information associated with it, subject to any information Bounce is legally permitted or required to retain.

Temporary suspension, deactivation, restriction, disabling or freezing of a Driver Account does not constitute permanent account deletion.

Once your account deletion request has been verified and processed:

  1. your Bounce Driver account will be permanently closed;
  2. you will no longer be able to access the Bounce Driver Platform using that account;
  3. your Driver profile will no longer be available for new Trips;
  4. active login sessions and account access credentials will be disabled;
  5. information that is no longer required will be deleted or de-identified; and
  6. information that Bounce must or is permitted to retain will be separated from active account systems or otherwise restricted where reasonably practicable.

Deleting your Bounce Driver account does not automatically cancel any outstanding payment, payout, refund, chargeback, investigation, complaint, regulatory matter or amount owed by you or to you.

Before requesting deletion, you should withdraw any available Driver Earnings and download any records you wish to retain, where those options are available.

26.3 Information We Generally Delete

Subject to the retention requirements below, information deleted following account closure may include:

  1. account login credentials;
  2. active authentication tokens and sessions;
  3. account preferences and non-essential settings;
  4. optional profile information;
  5. marketing preferences;
  6. information that is no longer required from an incomplete or unsuccessful application;
  7. device associations that are no longer required for security or fraud prevention;
  8. optional photographs, documents or uploads that are no longer required;
  9. information held solely to operate an active Driver Account; and
  10. other personal information that Bounce no longer requires for a lawful purpose.

Deletion may occur from active production systems first and subsequently from encrypted backups in accordance with Bounce’s backup rotation and deletion processes.

Some information may remain temporarily in secure backups until those backups are overwritten, deleted or expire in accordance with Bounce’s standard backup retention schedule. Information retained only in backups will not ordinarily be used for operational purposes unless the backup is restored for security, disaster recovery or legal reasons.

26.4 Information We May Retain

Bounce may retain certain personal information after your account is deleted where the information remains reasonably necessary or where retention is required or authorised by law.

Information that may be retained includes:

  1. your name, Driver Account identifiers and identity-verification records;
  2. driver licence and CPV Driver Accreditation verification records;
  3. Vehicle registration, inspection and compliance records;
  4. Trip records, including pickup and drop-off information, routes, dates, times, fares, tolls and cancellations;
  5. payment, payout, refund, adjustment, tax and transaction records;
  6. Australian Business Number and GST-related information;
  7. safety reports, complaints, incident records and investigation material;
  8. notifiable incident and regulatory compliance records;
  9. fraud-prevention, account-security and platform-integrity records;
  10. communications with Bounce Support;
  11. records of warnings, suspensions, restrictions or deactivation decisions;
  12. legal claims, disputes, insurance matters and law-enforcement requests;
  13. records needed to establish, exercise or defend legal rights; and
  14. a record of your deletion request and Bounce’s response to that request.

Bounce will not retain personal information merely because it may be useful in the future. Retained information will be limited to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant lawful purpose.

26.5 Reasons for Retention

Bounce may retain information following account deletion where reasonably necessary to:

  1. comply with taxation, financial reporting and business-record obligations;
  2. comply with commercial passenger vehicle and transport legislation;
  3. satisfy regulatory reporting and recordkeeping requirements;
  4. respond to Safe Transport Victoria, police, courts, emergency services or other authorised agencies;
  5. manage notifiable incidents and safety investigations;
  6. complete outstanding payouts, refunds, adjustments or chargebacks;
  7. detect, investigate and prevent fraud, identity misuse, account sharing and platform manipulation;
  8. prevent a person whose account was deactivated for safety, fraud or legal reasons from improperly creating another account;
  9. investigate complaints and resolve disputes;
  10. manage insurance claims;
  11. establish, exercise or defend legal rights;
  12. comply with a court order, legal notice or lawful direction; or
  13. protect the safety, security and integrity of the Bounce Platform.

Where information is retained for one of these purposes, Bounce may restrict its use so that it is not used for unrelated purposes.

26.6 Retention Periods and Criteria

The period for which information is retained depends on the type of information, the purpose for which it was collected and any applicable legal or regulatory requirement.

Bounce determines appropriate retention periods by considering:

  1. the period required under applicable taxation, corporate, transport, safety and financial laws;
  2. the duration of any applicable limitation period;
  3. whether a complaint, dispute, investigation, payment or legal proceeding remains unresolved;
  4. whether the information is required to prevent fraud or repeated platform misuse;
  5. the sensitivity of the information;
  6. the risk of harm arising from continued retention;
  7. whether the information can be safely de-identified; and
  8. whether retention remains reasonably necessary for a permitted purpose.

Unless a longer or shorter period is required in the circumstances, Bounce may generally retain:

  1. financial, payment, payout, tax and transaction records for the period required by applicable taxation and corporate recordkeeping laws;
  2. Trip and booking records for the period required under applicable commercial passenger vehicle, taxation, safety and legal requirements;
  3. safety, complaint, insurance and incident records until the matter is resolved and for any further period reasonably required for legal, insurance or regulatory purposes;
  4. fraud-prevention and account-integrity records for as long as reasonably necessary to detect or prevent repeated misuse;
  5. unsuccessful or incomplete application information for a limited period reasonably necessary to manage reapplications, fraud prevention and legal compliance; and
  6. deletion-request records for as long as reasonably necessary to demonstrate that the request was received and processed.

More specific retention periods may be published in a separate Bounce Data Retention Policy or provided to you upon request.

26.7 De-identification

Where Bounce no longer requires information in an identifiable form but may lawfully retain it for analytics, research, safety analysis, service improvement or statistical reporting, Bounce may de-identify or aggregate the information.

De-identification involves taking reasonable steps to remove or alter identifying information so that an individual is no longer reasonably identifiable.

De-identified or aggregated information may be retained for longer than identifiable personal information where it can no longer reasonably be linked to you.

Bounce will not represent information as de-identified where there remains a reasonable likelihood that you could be re-identified from the information alone or when combined with other information reasonably available to Bounce.

26.8 Processing Time and Confirmation

Bounce will process verified deletion requests within a reasonable period, subject to any outstanding legal, regulatory, safety, payment or security matter.

Bounce may delay final deletion where:

  1. your identity or authority to request deletion cannot be verified;
  2. a Trip, payout, refund, chargeback or account balance remains unresolved;
  3. the account is subject to a safety, fraud or regulatory investigation;
  4. preservation of information is required by law, legal process or a regulator; or
  5. immediate deletion would interfere with the detection or prevention of unlawful activity.

Where reasonably practicable, Bounce will notify you when your account has been deleted or explain why certain information must be retained.

26.9 Withdrawing a Deletion Request

You may contact Bounce before deletion is completed to ask that your request be withdrawn.

Once the account and associated information have been permanently deleted, Bounce may be unable to restore the account, Driver history, settings, documents or other deleted information.

If you later wish to drive with Bounce again, you may be required to submit a new application and complete all applicable onboarding, identity, eligibility, Vehicle and regulatory checks.

26.10 Your Privacy Rights After Account Deletion

Account deletion does not prevent you from requesting access to or correction of personal information Bounce continues to hold about you, subject to applicable law.

You may contact Bounce using the details in the Contact Us section to:

  1. ask what information has been retained;
  2. request access to retained personal information;
  3. request correction of inaccurate information;
  4. ask why particular information must be retained; or
  5. make a privacy complaint concerning the deletion process.

Where retained personal information is no longer required for a lawful purpose, Bounce will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

27. Changes to this Privacy Policy

Bounce may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time.

The most current version will be made available through the Bounce Driver App and our website.

Your continued use of the Bounce Driver Platform after changes take effect constitutes acknowledgement of the updated Privacy Policy.

28. Complaints

If you believe Bounce has breached applicable privacy laws or mishandled your personal information, you may submit a privacy complaint to us.

We will investigate your complaint and endeavour to respond within a reasonable period.

If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may be entitled to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
